A FC Barcelona star confirms his desire to play with Nico Williams

Nico Williams remains one of the main topics of conversation at Barcelona. Even though his signing is currently very complicated, there are players in the United States who have spoken out about the winger's possible arrival at the Blaugrana team. One who recently spoke about the subject was Jules Koundé. In an interview with the media in Annapolis (Maryland), the 25-year-old defender, who recently joined the team after his holidays, said that he would like to have the Athletic player as a teammate.

"Nico Williams is a great player and he has had a great Euro Cup. He is very young and has a significant margin for improvement. All good players ultimately want to play with them. In the end it does not depend on me. Let's see what the club does and if it can be done or not, but if it could be done of course we would be delighted," said the Frenchman.

Regarding the new project of the culé team, headed by Hansi Flick, Koundé said that "there is a lot of intensity in training." "I have a good feeling and I want to get some minutes," he said before making it clear that he has spoken to the German coach and that he will play where the team needs him most. "I have already spoken to Flick. I will play where the team needs me most. I have told the coach that I feel comfortable in both positions. Last year I made a step forward on the right flank. Centre-back will always be my favourite position but I am willing to play in both," he revealed.

Koundé's objectives for next season

When asked about what the German coach asks of the defenders, the Frenchman explained that Flick "wants a high line", something that has not changed with respect to Xavi's idea. "We want to be dominant, to press, to put intensity... Flick insists quite a bit on this and we are seeing it in these first games," he said.

The Parisian defender admitted that he has noticed that his popularity among Barcelona fans has increased. "I have noticed the affection that the fans give me, also on the streets. I am very grateful for that and I will continue working," he said. He also gave his opinion on the reinforcements, commenting that he would like to see new faces in the team to continue working towards the objective of winning titles next season.

"We want to win titles and I want to improve as a player, this is my goal. The objective each year is the same: to win titles. Afterwards, the manager will dictate how he wants to play. But when you are at Barça the objectives are always to win titles," he declared. Finally, he heaped praise on his teammate, Lamine Yamal: "I expect the same thing that he has shown in the European Championship. He has grown a lot and is already making a difference. Let's continue like this and keep improving," he concluded.
