Unai Emery dreams of incorporating two Barça players in the next summer market, seeking to reinforce his defense and midfield. Discover who they are!
Aston Villa is preparing a very intense summer market, thinking of reinforcing its squad for the next season. Unai Emery and Monchi, the club's sporting director, have set their sights on at least two FC Barcelona players. The latest information indicates the interest of those from Birmingham in Marc Casadó and Andreas Christensen, two pieces with which the Azulgrana team could generate amounts that will be of great help to balance the 'Fair Play'.
However, only the Dane is currently on Barça's list of transferables. His contract expires in 2026 and, for the moment, there are no signs of renewal. The board would be willing to negotiate his departure to free up salary mass and obtain funds, especially if the offers are around 20 million euros, a price considered affordable given his quality and experience.
Emery values the defender's versatility (he can play as a central defender or defensive pivot) and his experience in high-level competitions, including a Champions League won with Chelsea in 2021. In addition, Christensen would arrive at a team where he would have very good chances of being a starter, a guarantee that he has never enjoyed in Barcelona.
Aston Villa would also go for Marc Casadó
With Casadó, those from Birmingham would try to convince him to change his mind, understanding that, with the possible renewal of Frenkie de Jong and the return of Marc Bernal in the summer, it will be much more difficult for him to enjoy the prominence he had in the first months of 24-25. An injury to the lateral collateral ligament of his right knee (diagnosed in March 2025) will keep him out until May, another key factor for the 'villains' offensive.
In that sense, Unai Emery considers the Spanish midfielder a future bet with the potential to develop in the Premier League, with a profile similar to that of the dynamic midfielders he has shaped in the past in Valencia, Villarreal and PSG, capable of providing defensive work and quality in distribution.
The latest reports indicate that Monchi has initiated preliminary contacts with Barça, although Casadó has a contract until 2028 and a termination clause of 100 million euros. Villa would offer the player a project with guaranteed playing time, something that is not guaranteed in Barcelona, but the culés are not planning to listen to offers for him this summer. Chelsea is another of the clubs attentive to the future of the Sant Pere de Vilamajor player, who this season has 1 goal and 6 assists in 36 games (2,447 minutes).
