The FC Barcelona board has several alternatives on the table to resolve Dani Olmo's registration before the end of the year. Among them is a new 'lever' linked to Spotify Camp Nou

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The registration of Dani Olmo is the major headache for FC Barcelona in the final stretch of 2024. The '20' will not be able to play anymore in LaLiga, just like Pau Víctor, starting January 1 if the club does not resolve his registration. In this regard, the board is looking to exhaust several avenues to obtain the 'ok' from the governing body, including the activation of a 'lever' that would leave around 200 million euros in the club's coffers.

The club also has on hold the new contract with Nike, which should be endorsed by LaLiga once Barça's members approve the figures of the agreement in the extraordinary assembly this Saturday. However, the 'plan b' involves the sale of VIP seats in the revamped Spotify Camp Nou. The board has been negotiating a price of around 25,000 euros for each of the 8,000 seats in the box.

According to 'SPORT', the agreement would be closed for the next 20 years with Sixth Street, a firm that has already closed other agreements with Barça in recent years, related to the club's broadcasting rights in LaLiga. In principle, the azulgrana team needs to generate around 60 'kilos' to balance its finances and finally register its only two reinforcements from last summer. This 'lever' would also clear the way to return to the 1/1 rule and finally sign without restrictions.

'Reassuring Summit' about Dani Olmo's future in Barcelona

Amid the tense wait for the resolution of the 'soap opera' with the governing body, the azulgrana board has conveyed complete calm to the player from Terrassa and his surroundings about his future as a Barça player. 'Jijantes' confirmed on Thursday a 'summit' led by Deco with Dani's family, in which the sports law expert, Ramón Valencia, was also present.

Barça ruled out any scenario where the coaching staff would be forced to do without the attacking midfielder due to not having registered him. In this regard, Miquel Olmo, the player's father, reaffirmed his confidence in the azulgrana team, which his son returned to last summer to stay for a long time. The '20' signed for six seasons, until June 2030, after a decade in Croatian and German football.

The legal route: Barça's 'ace' up its sleeve

If the negotiation for the VIP seats at Camp Nou does not succeed in time, nor does it reach the necessary income through the contract with Nike (the club will receive the bulk of the income starting in 2028), Barcelona will resort to the legal route to register Dani Olmo. The club will seek a conciliation with the governing body on Monday, claiming to have sufficient salary margin after Ter Stegen's injury, along with the right of every player to exercise their profession.

This resource already allowed them to register Gavi at the beginning of 2023 and, beyond the complaints from teams like Sevilla and Atlético de Madrid, it is likely that the favorable ruling for Barça will be known by the end of next week, while Dani and the rest of the squad enjoy a brief Christmas vacation. Hansi Flick's team will return to work the following week, just before the new year, to prepare for their debut in the Copa del Rey against Barbastro (January 4).
