The FC Barcelona board seems determined to sign a 'top' center forward in 2025. In principle, Viktor Gyökeres aims to be the one chosen to relieve Robert Lewandowski
Robert Lewandowski's great start to the season with FC Barcelona (19 goals in 17 games in all competitions) does not prevent the culé board from keeping open the possibility of signing another '9' in 2025. In principle, the Barça team seems having decided on the Sporting CP star, Viktor Gyökeres, the fashion forward in Europe.
The Swede has 23 goals scored in 18 games with Ruben Amorim's team and, although he left without scoring at the weekend against Braga, his hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League definitely put him on the radar of several big. For Barça, beyond the scoring potential of the 26-year-old forward, it is an operation that can be very profitable in the long term.
And the latest information regarding Sporting CP's '9' ensures that the Lisbon team will accept a figure close to 75 million euros for the Stockholm player, an affordable price considering that the 'killer''s previous club, Coventry has 10% of a future transfer guaranteed.
Barça, in equal conditions to enter the bid for Gyökeres
Gyökeres landed in Portugal in the summer of 2023 in exchange for 24 'kilos' and, although he has a contract until June 2028, the Swedish international will have many possibilities of making the leap to a big player in 2025. For now, Chelsea is the club that has shown the most interest in Viktor, although Manchester City will also go after him if Erling Haaland decides to leave with Pep Guardiola at the end of this season.
In any case, Barça will not be, by any means, at a disadvantage when it comes to negotiating for the Sporting star. The club will soon return to the 1/1 rule thanks to the millions derived from the new contract with Nike and, both due to the transfer price and the striker's signing, the operation does not represent a problem for the Catalans' finances.
In principle, Gyökeres expects to bill a salary close to €10M net per season starting in 2025/26, emoluments that would not affect the culé wage bill, since the club has at least two important sales planned in the next summer market.
Without obstacles from the financial 'Fair Play', Barça would have already made the decision to take a step forward for the Stockholm player to make him Robert Lewandowski's successor. The Pole's future, however, is not at risk, since he is doing the necessary merits to secure the extra year established in his contract.
