Deco is already working on planning for next season's squad. The Portuguese has drawn up the roadmap for 25/26, although it is subject to change
Although the 2024-2025 season has only been officially underway for two months, the FC Barcelona offices are already working on the next one. Slowly but surely, Deco, the Barça club's sporting director, is beginning to outline what could be the squad for the following season, with the aim of getting ahead of his rivals in the 'races' for their different objectives, although everything is subject to change.
Barça's pending renewals
First of all, Deco has launched the plan for renewals of first team players, which can be official even during this break. Among the pending files are those of Fermín López or Gerard Martín, in addition to the cases of the footballers whose contracts expire in 2026 (Lamine, Gavi, Pedri, etc.) and the club wants to 'tie them down' for next summer or, otherwise, put them on the market to prevent them from leaving for free.
Possible signings for next summer
On the other hand, the sporting director has already started to make moves with the names that interest Barça for the next transfer market, sounding out the entourage of the footballers well placed on the culé agenda or holding some meetings with their representatives.
According to 'SPORT', the Catalans hope to be in the 1/1 rule next summer, which would allow them to assume, for example, the signing of a proven scorer for the forward line (Gyökeres, Jonathan David, Sesko... or Haaland?). In addition, the entity is also thinking about full-backs (Tiago Santos) and, since Ter Stegen's injury, a goalkeeper (Diogo Costa, Marcin Bulka).
The big priority in the winter market
Beyond all this, Barça will first put its efforts into resolving the pending tasks in the winter market. The deal with Nike is still not closed and the Catalan club needs to generate financial fair play in the coming months to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor until the end of the season. For this reason, an exit from Hansi Flick's team is not ruled out, with Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres as two main candidates to leave Barcelona.
