The morning of Friday, September 20, was a very busy one in the offices of the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. Deco, sporting director of FC Barcelona, held a meeting with Héctor Peris, CEO of Leaderbrock (agency that represents Pedri González) and with part of his team to begin negotiations to extend the Canary Islander's link with the Blaugrana entity.
This was reported by 'Jijantes', where they assured that said meeting lasted an hour and a half. At Can Barça they consider the Tenerife native to be key in their short and medium-term sporting project, so they have set in motion the machinery to 'protect' him for the future.
Pedri's link with the Catalan institution expires on June 30, 2026, and has a clause of 1,000 million euros. A figure that, a priori, makes it impossible for any club to try to get his services, although the expiration date of the agreement could be a concern for the entity in the coming months. For this reason, the culés will seek to extend the years of the contract and both parties have already met to discuss it.
Pedri has left his physical problems behind
The Barça '8', who suffered a grade 2 internal lateral sprain in his left knee in the quarterfinals of the Eurocup against Germany, managed to recover in time for the start of LaLiga and has played a fundamental role in Barça's unbeaten run in the first five days of the tournament. The footballer has scored two goals so far this season and the sensations around his physique are increasingly better, so in Barcelona they will do everything possible to retain him in their ranks for as many years as possible.
