Neymar Jr.'s future strongly points to the Brasileirao. In a recent interview, Deco expressed his thoughts on the Brazilian's chances of returning to FC Barcelona one day.

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Few know and understand better the complicated scenario that Neymar Jr. is going through than Deco. The Barcelona sports director opened up about the current situation of the player from Mogi das Cruzes before the Benfica-FC Barcelona match held last Tuesday. For the former Portuguese international, the current winger of Al Hilal must think very carefully about where to continue his career. Although he has a contract until June, the '10' already knows that he is not part of coach Jorge Jesus's plans for the rest of the season.

"At his best, Neymar is one of the best players in the world. He still is and always will be. He is welcome at any club in the world," the Barcelona sports director began. However, he was blunt in admitting that, at this moment, the 32-year-old forward is far from the elite. "An operation with him can never be ruled out, but right now I see him returning to Brazil," he argued in an interview with 'TNT Sports Brasil'.

Deco explained why Barça never considered Neymar's return

Regarding this, Deco was blunt about the reasons why Barcelona, beyond the rumors, never considered the return of the '11' after his departure from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023. Despite his surprising farewell, the Brazilian maintained the affection of a significant sector of the Barcelona fans, thanks to the 105 goals and 76 assists he accumulated in his 186 official matches as a culé.

"Neymar's return to Barça was always something very distant. Since he moved to Saudi Arabia, we knew he was a very expensive player, especially in terms of financial 'Fair Play'," explained the Barcelona sports director. In that sense, he took the opportunity to wish the best for Ney, who has been plagued by injuries in the last two years. "The most important thing is that Neymar returns to playing football. That will bring joy to himself and to others," Deco pointed out.
