Destination Madrid? Martín Zubimendi aims for a big club in LaLiga

The future of Martín Zubimendi is one of the big questions of the transfer market. The San Sebastián midfielder has been a target for the top clubs on the continent, FC Barcelona among them, for several years, but the player has remained firm in his intention to take Real Sociedad to the highest level.

This stance has led him to reject offers, for example, from Liverpool, which last summer was willing to pay his release clause, valued at 60 million. However, his name remains on the list of potential targets for heavyweights like Manchester City or Real Madrid, and his destination could be starting to take shape.

Zubimendi would stay in LaLiga

This was reported by former Real player, Roberto López Ufarte, on the program 'Tiempo de Juego' on COPE, where he raised alarms around Zubimendi's future by stating that "I believe he is going to stay in Spain. Of course, there can’t be anything because I haven’t seen any contract."

The words of the historic 'txuri-urdin' player hint at some movement in the shadows of the Madrid club, which continues to look for a player similar to Toni Kroos, and Martín would fit this profile. In the past, Barça explored this option, but the emergence of Marc Casadó and Marc Bernal has closed the door on the arrival of a pivot and at the Santiago Bernabéu they would have an advantage in the race for the player.
