It is worth remembering that it was mentioned on more than one occasion that Kimmich, who was set to end his contract with the Bavarian team on June 30, would not extend his stay in the German squad beyond this season, having joined in the summer transfer market of 2015. In fact, at one point it was commented that the positions were very distant between the player from Rottweil and 'Die Roten'.
It was argued that the Bavarians, given the doubts shown by the talented 30-year-old midfielder regarding renewal, would have withdrawn their contract extension offer. This situation generated various speculations about a possible departure of Kimmich to another team, highlighting a certain favoritism from Paris Saint-Germain, a team that would have made a formal proposal to approach the signing of the German pivot.
However, all of a sudden it seems that the paths converged, and both parties, Kimmich and Bayern, adjusted their criteria and were willing to finalize a renewal that has finally been made official this Thursday, in a contract extended for four more seasons. This agreement has closed one of the major 'sagas' that the Munich team has had to face lately, keeping a significant number of squads on edge that wanted to secure the services of Joshua.
Kimmich, a strategic renewal for Bayern Munich
With this, Kimmich, who has apparently been assured a salary increase and has been given the captaincy, will continue wearing the Bayern Munich jersey, becoming a key name in this 2024-25 season. Playing as a full-time midfielder, he is the axis of the team's engine room under Vincent Kompany, currently tallying one goal and 10 assists in 39 matches, a player that Bayern definitely could not afford to lose, especially not for free.
Statements after Joshua Kimmich's renewal
After renewing, Kimmich made the following statements to the club's official media. "At Bayern, I have the best environment to achieve my sporting goals. Based on that, I made my decision. At this moment, there is no better group of teammates, coaching staff, and club atmosphere to achieve maximum success. I feel good here, and I am not done yet," he stated.

Likewise, Max Eberl, the sporting director of Bayern Munich, also expressed his thoughts on the situation. "Mindset and identity: that is what Joshua Kimmich represents. He has internalized Bayern's DNA for years and lives it both on and off the pitch. We are very happy that he continues to lead our team," he concluded.
