FC Barcelona's victory against Real Madrid in New Jersey (1-2) had Álex Valle as one of the highest points of the culés. The defender had an impact on the two Barça goals, completing a very good game as a right back
Álex Valle was one of the big surprises for FC Barcelona in the victory against Real Madrid (1-2). Hansi Flick lined him up as a right back to replace Héctor Fort and the one from Badalona fulfilled with honor, assisting Pau Víctor in the 0-2 partial and serving the cross that led to the opening of the scoring in the first half. However, the 20-year-old defender is still not clear about his future, since his contract ends in 2025 and, for now, he is one of the pieces with which the board can try to make cash this summer.
"I'm enjoying the tour without thinking too much. The truth is, I don't think it depends on me," he commented in the mixed zone after the Classic played in New Jersey. In that sense, the defender valued his loan last season and how he has managed to improve in recent months. "I think that last season I matured a lot in Levante, I am very happy with the year I had and this year I have come with enthusiasm, like all the years I have started here. Wait and keep working."
Álex Valle reveals the key to his stellar performance with a changed profile
Although Valle is a natural left-hander, Flick has tried a changed profile this summer, with very positive results so far. In this regard, he commented: "In the end I try to respond with my sacrifice and my work and I try to give everything in the position I put myself in. Little by little I am feeling more comfortable." And, regarding the challenge of playing in the Classic as a starter, he added: "I was very excited and I looked forward to the challenge, but I also had that little bit of respect. Obviously I know where I am, it's the highest level."
For Barça, the emergence of Álex can be of great help, considering that, for the moment, he would be the first 'natural' alternative to Alejandro Balde on the left, although Héctor Fort can also cover that wing. However, the 20-year-old defender is clear about his priority of helping the team as long as the coach counts on him. "In the end we know the shield we carry and I believe that nothing special should be asked of us. It is a club that deserves and has to always win. Individually we know my qualities and we will try to enhance what costs me the most," argued the Barcelona youth player.
And, regarding the victory in the Classic, the one from Badalona, faithful to his custom, was prudent regarding the celebrations. "It's a friendly and both teams are taking shape. Obviously we want to win everything. I've been at Barça for 11 years and I've played a few classics, but this is the first with the first team. I'm super happy," he said.
