FC Barcelona is clear that it cannot lose sight of its options to strengthen the core if the transfer of Nico Williams falls through. At this point, the culés, in addition to Luis Díaz from Liverpool, would already have another interesting option stipulated with which they could reinforce the lead

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Doubts about Nico Williams' arrival at FC Barcelona this summer have opened up a range of options for the club to strengthen its left wing in case the Pamplona native decides to continue wearing Athletic Club's jersey in the 2024/25 season. As recently mentioned on FCBN, one of the names that seems to appeal to the Barcelona sports management is Luis Díaz from Liverpool. However, he is not the only alternative the Catalan team has in mind to bring imbalance and speed to the left side.

According to 'SPORT,' one of the most well-regarded options, if Nico Williams cannot join the Barcelona squad in this summer transfer window, would be Kingsley Coman. The French forward at Bayern Munich enjoys a contractual situation and sporting conditions that suggest he could be a very good option to provide depth in that position in the 24/25 season.

Firstly, it must be noted that Coman is a player whom Hansi Flick has previously coached in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons at 'Die Roten'. Additionally, he is a player who can perform on both flanks, showcasing speed, a voracious one-on-one ability with two solid weapons to outmaneuver opponents: explosive pace and unpredictable dribbling, all accompanied by a strong ability to play alongside his teammates.

Barcelona could try to sign Coman through a loan

In this line, the former Juventus and PSG player also benefits from the fact that Bayern Munich are willing to part ways with him this summer and would consider a loan deal to avoid the burden of his salary (9 million euros net per season, according to 'Capology'). This formula seems to fit Barcelona the best, as they wouldn't have to spend too much, reserving that economic muscle for a larger investment in the future. However, it is clear that Barcelona would also aim to find a more suitable salary condition given the current team's reality.

Nevertheless, one key aspect to consider in the Coman deal is that one of the main drawbacks in the Frenchman's game is that he has struggled to maintain consistency in his performance in recent years due to injuries. It remains to be seen if Barcelona will ultimately pursue him, contingent on the failure of the Nico Williams deal, and if Hansi Flick can help him rediscover his best form as a player, where he has proven to be a differential player in the final third of the pitch.
