The final hours of the transfer market could be quite hectic for Barça and Madrid. The Catalans have several pending issues regarding departures and are looking for a pivot, while the possible transfer of Ceballos forces the Whites to look for a reinforcement

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The transfer market for FC Barcelona and Real Madrid has been, in general terms, a fairly quiet one. Beyond the countless rumours of possible signings, the reality is that both clubs, apart from the star signings of Dani Olmo and Kylian Mbappé, have not been greatly reinforced for next season. There are just over 24 hours left in the summer window and, a priori, it seems difficult for either of the two teams to complete any important operation, although circumstances could force them to use their options.

In the case of Barça, Marc Bernal's unfortunate injury against Rayo Vallecano leaves Hansi Flick without natural alternatives for the pivot position. Frenkie de Jong's return to the pitch still has no set date and Andreas Christensen's problems with his Achilles heel have ruled out 'plan B', which is why the option of Stefan Bajcetic 'burst' in as a possible last-minute signing, although it could not be carried out due to problems with financial 'fair play' and the player will end up on loan to RB Salzburg, so the Catalans are still looking to shore up this area of the pitch.

Deco also had to reinforce the sides, but economic limitations and the lack of salary margin made the possible arrivals of players such as Joao Cancelo and Sergio Reguilón impossible, with Marc Pubill awaiting the club's movements. In the same way, the 'winger operation' remains 'stalled' after the options of Federico Chiesa and Kingsley Coman fell through, with the Italian heading to Liverpool, while the Frenchman has everything ready to leave for Saudi Arabia.

However, in the offices of the Spotify Camp Nou there may still be a departure. The names of Eric García and Ansu Fati appear as two possible sales of the Barcelona entity according to the newspaper 'SPORT', which is why the Catalans could go into the market if one of these two operations ends up taking place.

An unexpected 'headache' for Real Madrid

For their part, at the Casa Blanca they have seen how their planning can be 'disrupted' due to Dani Ceballos' decision to change teams, with Real Betis as a possible destination. Carlo Ancelotti is aware that the season is going to be very demanding in terms of number of games and he does not have enough pure midfielders after the retirement of Toni Kroos and the injuries of Camavinga and Bellingham, in addition to the need for Aurélien Tchouaméni to play as a centre-back due to the deficiencies in the defensive axis (the departure of Nacho is joined by the injuries of David Alaba and Jesús Vallejo).

So, if the Merengues get rid of the Andalusian, 'Carletto's' squad would be forced to go to the market to add another player to the midfield, since they would only have Valverde, Modric and the aforementioned Tchouaméni as pure midfielders. At the moment, the club's aim is to convince Ceballos to continue playing at the Bernabéu, but if they don't manage to do so, the Madrid offices are already moving to find a replacement for him.
