The FC Barcelona board is advancing on its roadmap in terms of departures. The latest information points to an agreement closed with English club Bournemouth for the transfer of Julián Araujo, one of the defenders without a place in the squad

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona will soon close its second outing of the summer, after the loan of Oriol Romeu to Girona. The next to leave will be, barring any surprise, Julián Araujo, one of the footballers that the board was counting on to make money in the summer market. The Mexican only played 45 minutes on the American tour (the first half against Manchester City) and did not enter Hansi Flick's plans for 2024/25, although he is a player who can cover the entire right wing.

According to the latest information, the man from Lompoc will sign for Bournemouth in exchange for 10 million euros net. The 22-year-old player could travel to England this Sunday to undergo medical tests and will sign for five seasons, until June 2029, with the approval of Spanish coach Andoni Iraola. For Barça, the operation will be considered successful, since the full-back landed in Catalonia in January 2023 in exchange for 4 'kilos'.

Barça fulfills the planned plan with Julián Araujo

Araujo, however, did not make his debut with the reserve team or the first team, due to a FIFA restriction on Barça for having closed the deal with the American LA Galaxy outside the limit established in the winter market. Last summer, the culés chose to loan Las Palmas to UD for one year and without a purchase option. There he played 28 games (25 in the League and 3 in the Cup), with a total of 1,655 minutes and scored a couple of goals.

The loan to the Canary Islands team fulfilled its purpose, as the board always saw in Julián an ideal disposable piece to make money. The Mexican signed with the Barça team until June 2026, but he has no place in the squad due to the presence of Jules Koundé, Héctor Fort and Álex Valle himself, who won his private duel during the American tour. Barça has not yet decided whether or not they will seek to recover Joao Cancelo, another alternative for the right side.

The departure of Julián Araujo, another 'breather' for Barça in terms of 'Fair Play'

In that sense, Araujo's imminent transfer to Bournemouth could leave all parties very satisfied. For the culés, the €10M paves the way for the great objective of returning to the 1/1 rule and signing normally, a factor that the board hopes to achieve this week once they manage to close the partner who will take charge of the 40M €  remaining unfulfilled by Líbero. The 22-year-old defender, for his part, takes an important step in his desire to consolidate himself in the European elite, finishing 12th in the last Premier League, far from the risk of relegation.
