Fermín López will be a Barça player, in principle, for five more years. Barça has improved and extended the Andalusian's contract, whose renewal will be made official once the return to the 1/1 rule is confirmed

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona continues to 'protect' its young stars for the future. From the offices of the Spotify Camp Nou, aware of the 'jewels' they have in their squad, they have set the machinery in motion to ensure the continuity of these figures in the team for years to come. With Deco at the helm, the Catalans have rushed to improve the contracts of these 'pearls', with Fermín López being the latest to join the list.

The Andalusian renewed his link with the institution in August 2023 until 2027 with a reserve team card, and became a first-team player before the matches stipulated in the contract were completed to make the definitive jump to the first team. His 'explosion' at the 2024 Paris Olympics made him one of the club's most valuable assets, which is why the Blaugranas reached an agreement with the player's agent to improve and extend his contract.

The factor delaying the official announcement of Fermin's renewal

According to 'Relevo', Barça will tie Fermin for five more years, but the announcement of his renewal will not be made official until the Catalan club returns to the long-awaited 1/1 rule. The Catalans would be very tight on 'fair play', in fact, they have exceeded the margin, so until the new agreement with Nike is signed, or another important income is obtained, they will not be able to enter the norm.

However, it is expected that in the next few months the necessary movements will occur to return to the rule and, when this time comes, the renewals of López and Gerard Martín will be made official in cascade. In the same way, the Catalans could close the very advanced agreements with Pedri and Gavi, and would also finalize the new and improved contract of Lamine Yamal.

Barça's roadmap with Lamine

As a minor, the player from Mataró cannot be officially given a long-term contract, but his current contract will be substantially improved on the condition that, upon turning 18, the player will have a new 5-year contract that will put him on the salary level of his market value.
