FC Barcelona could go for one of Monaco's full-backs this summer

With just under four months until the summer transfer market opens, many names are on FC Barcelona's radar. One of them is Vanderson, the right-back from Monaco whom Deco has been following for several months. The 23-year-old player could arrive for a figure close to 25 million euros, although his position currently has Jules Koundé as untouchable in Hansi Flick's scheme.

The Brazilian has 2 goals and 4 assists in 29 matches (2,346 minutes) with Adi Hütter's team. The Principality team paid 11 million euros to Grêmio in 2022 for his transfer, signing him for six seasons, until June 2028. So far, he has accumulated 113 official appearances with the Monaco team (8 goals and 13 assists) and his market value reaches 20 'million' on Transfermarkt.

Barça would only consider Vanderson as a backup for Jules Koundé

In this sense, Deco does not rule out negotiating with Monaco for a player who, at 23 years old, seems ready to make the leap to a 'top' club and league. Vanderson would be a luxury backup for Koundé. However, it will not be easy to convince him to join a team where, in principle, he would be destined for the bench, although Hansi Flick may find a place for him in his scheme as an interior/winger to add more depth to the blue-and-red game on the right.

This season, Jules has stepped up, establishing himself as what many consider to be the best right-back in the world today, despite being a natural center-back. The French international has a great understanding with Lamine Yamal and has 3 goals and 7 assists in 36 matches with Barça. Furthermore, he is the leader in minutes played for the team (2,981'), with appearances in all official matches of the 24/25 season.

Not surprisingly, his renewal is one of the next files to address for the board, but the idea is not to take risks and to secure his position with a backup that offers more guarantees than Héctor Fort, one of the possible departures next summer. In any case, the right side, unlike the left, is not considered a priority for Barça's market plans in the 25/26 season.
