FC Barcelona could be receiving an unexpected financial benefit thanks to one of the players it sold a while ago, but for which it still has a benefit clause for future sale: Mika Mármol
FC Barcelona has recently been implementing a formula that has yielded interesting economic dividends and, according to current signals, could bring even more positive outcomes. What does this strategy involve? Letting go of several young talents from the academy through transfers, players with great quality but who do not have enough space in the Catalan club's sports project.
However, these departures are carried out under specific conditions that allow the Catalan team to receive an initial amount of money for the transferred players, and also have the option to receive an additional sum in future transfers. This is achieved by retaining a percentage of future sales profits, in case the players excel and meet the expectations placed on them.
One of the names that could bring some positive returns to Barcelona, despite not being at the club for some time, is the 23-year-old defender, Mika Mármol. At the time, the Barcelona team let him go to FC Andorra at no cost, and today he is one of the standout players at UD Las Palmas and in LaLiga EA Sports. It is worth mentioning that the defender is known for his impeccable defensive skills, aerial game, and exceptional technical quality to start ball distribution from the backline.
Roma is reportedly interested in signing Mika Mármol this winter transfer window
As recently reported in 'La Gazzetta dello Sport,' Roma under Claudio Ranieri is interested in signing Mika Mármol and has already made an initial offer of €7 million to try to secure his transfer in this winter market. A transfer that, if completed for that amount, would bring a small but significant economic benefit to Barcelona.
It is important to remember that when Mika Mármol was let go in 2022, the Barça team secured a clause granting them 50% of the proceeds from a future sale. Therefore, if the 'Giallorossi' finalize the transfer for seven 'millions,' Barça would receive half, that is, around €3.5 million. This amount would be directly allocated to comply with financial 'fair play' rules.
Now we will have to wait and see if the transaction comes to fruition, as per the mentioned information, teams like Girona, Real Betis, or Como managed by Cesc Fàbregas, have also shown interest in acquiring the defender's services. Additionally, it would not be surprising if UD Las Palmas sticks to simply letting him go by triggering his €10 million release clause, which would mean Barcelona would receive around €5 million, a much more encouraging situation from an economic perspective, albeit possibly more challenging to achieve.
