The FC Barcelona board has two priority candidates for the left winger position ahead of next summer. If nothing is resolved with Nico Williams, Barça is looking at Liverpool and Milan.

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Rafael Leao and Luis Díaz are currently the most valued left wingers by the FC Barcelona board for the upcoming summer transfer market. The club is already within the 1:1 rule in LaLiga's financial 'Fair Play', a key factor for the Catalans to negotiate without restrictions for any 'top' player. Although Barça has not completely ruled out Nico Williams, the doubts of the Basque winger about his departure from San Mamés have caused discomfort in the blue and garnet team.

At this point, for Deco and Joan Laporta, the best option is undoubtedly Rafa. The Portuguese had a very positive first contact with the board and, beyond improving his situation in the Milan dressing room after the arrival of coach Sérgio Conceiçao, the '10' is clear that this is the ideal moment to make a leap to another European giant, where he can aspire to win everything. Milan, however, will not budge for less than 100 million euros, as the player from Almada is under contract until 2028.

With 'Lucho', the negotiation could be a bit simpler. Liverpool will not put obstacles to his departure for a price close to 70-75 'kilos', despite the importance of the Colombian in Arne Slot's scheme. Díaz is under contract until June 2027 and has scored 12 goals in 25 matches in the 2024/25 season. However, he has received criticism from the English press for his decline in recent weeks. Another favorable aspect for the Barrancas player is his salary (3.5M€ net per year), one of the lowest in the 'red' squad.

Rashford, a less feasible alternative

The other option that Barça is considering is Marcus Rashford. The English international is not in the plans of coach Rúben Amorim and is set to leave on loan in the winter market, but his extremely high salary (around 20 million gross per season) is a hurdle for the Catalan planning. Milan, in fact, also has him on their radar for the summer if Rafael Leao ends up leaving.

For now, the '10' of the 'red devils' seems to lean towards a Barcelona offer for the summer. The 27-year-old player has scored 7 goals and provided 3 assists in 24 matches (1,500 minutes) in the 2024/25 season, but recent rumors indicate significant progress in negotiations between Borussia Dortmund and 'Man U'. The Germans already solved a headache for Old Trafford last season with Jadon Sancho.
