FC Barcelona has completed the renewal of Marc Bernal, with an update of his clause for a very high value, like other 'jewels' of the club

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The FC Barcelona board will soon announce Marc Bernal's new contract. The 17-year-old midfielder, out for the rest of the season due to a serious injury to his left knee, assured his continuity in the club, at least, until June 2026, with the option to renew for three more years in 2025, once comes of age. In principle, Berga's termination clause was 20 million euros, an amount that generated uncertainty regarding his future.

And, although the youth player was barely able to play for a month before getting injured, the level exhibited on the American tour and the start of 2024/25 generated enormous interest in several 'big players' in Europe. For this reason, Barça will not take risks and, as with the rest of the 'jewels' of the squad, will set its new starting price at 500 million euros, a 'prohibitive' price in line with the pivot's projection.

Barça has a clear roadmap to 'shield' Marc Bernal

In that sense, Barça 'shields' Marc after the interest of clubs like Manchester United and Newcastle, both willing to pay the 20 'kilos' of his initial clause in the next transfer market. Although the man from Berga will be out of action for approximately a year, it was a 'bargain' that several 'heavyweights' from England and Europe did not want to pass up.

Bernal will be able to sign in 2025 for three more years, until June 2029, with which he will be able to face, without worries, the final stretch of his recovery process. The midfielder underwent surgery on September 9 by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau for a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, which also affected the external meniscus. Like Gavi, his estimated time off is 12 months, a period that the club will respect to avoid future relapses. If everything goes well, the youth will be able to return to the field between August and September of next year.
