Ronald Araújo's renewal with Barça remains 'stalled'. The Catalans are no longer ruling out selling him and would let him go for an amount greater than 80 million euros

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Ronald Araújo's contract is one of FC Barcelona's 'hot potatoes'. While the centre-back continues his recovery process after his long-term injury and the Catalan club expects his return at the end of the year or the beginning of the next, his future in the team led by Hansi Flick remains in doubt.

The contractual situation of the Uruguayan defender is beginning to be a 'headache' for Barça, since the player's contract with the club expires in 2026 and, despite the fact that the Catalan club tried several times to start negotiations to extend his commitment, there is still no news about his possible renewal, with the player rejecting these approaches from the Catalans.

This setback, added to the series of controversies starring the player last season (his exchange of statements with Gündogan, his expulsion against PSG...), have led the sports management to contemplate his departure from the team. The relationship between the two parties is at a tense moment, and although the club will not put him on the market in an obvious way, his transfer is no longer ruled out.

The figure that Barça would demand for the sale of Araújo

However, at Can Barça they would not let him leave at any price. According to 'El Nacional.cat', the Catalans would only accept an offer higher than 80 million euros for the 25-year-old defender. The Uruguayan is valued at 70 million euros according to 'Transfermarkt', and the Blaugranas, aware that Ronald is one of the most valuable assets in the squad, would hope to get a good 'cut' from his transfer.

Clubs such as Bayern Munich and Manchester United have already shown interest in the player in the past, and even sounded out his signing in the previous summer window, but finally his long-term injury 'cut short' his departure. Now, if an agreement is not reached with Barça, the Uruguayan's continuity would once again be in question and his departure could go from rumour to reality, although for this to happen the team that wants to sign him will have to go all out.
