Barça remain firm in their intentions to sign Alphonso Davies. The full-back is torn between the Catalans, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid
There is less than a month left for Alphonso Davies to be free to negotiate with any club. The left-back's contract expires in June 2025, and although Bayern Munich has pushed hard in recent weeks to close his renewal, the agreement between both parties has still not been reached and both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid remain in the race for his signing.
Although the Canadian seemed to have one foot out of the Allianz Arena, a few days ago the information emerged that the player had lowered his high financial demands and negotiations with the Bavarians had been redirected. The defender would be rethinking his future as he feels very comfortable at his current club and does not rule out staying in the Bundesliga, although all options remain on the table.
Barça does not give up on Davies
If, finally, Davies opts to change teams in the summer, this lowering of demands would favor Barça. According to 'SPORT', the Catalans have only expressed their interest and have not made any further moves, as their priority is to gain room in the salary limit for the winter market, when they must register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor.
The Catalans believe that they still have time to negotiate since the player has not yet signed a new contract, and they trust in the trump card of Hansi Flick. The German has expressly asked for the signing of Alphonso and, although the operation is not simple, the Catalans believe that in January they could increase their chances in the bidding.
For their part, Madrid's plague of injuries has forced them to change their roadmap and Davies has taken a backseat. However, the Merengues have gained a lot of ground due to the fact that they have been negotiating with the player's entourage for almost a year, but despite the fact that the American is very interesting, they will not face his signing for a high price. The game of 'poker' continues.
