Lewandowski's contract is close to being extended until 2026. The '9' must meet a series of objectives that, at the rate he is going, will almost certainly be achieved

Calendar of FC Barcelona

At 36 years old, Robert Lewandowski is having a spectacular start to the season. The Pole, slim, powerful and with an overflowing motivation, has established himself as one of the best players for FC Barcelona this season and one of the main responsible for the 10 victories in 12 games of the Catalans.

The player has been strengthened after the arrival of Hansi Flick to the Barça bench, recovering the best version of a footballer obsessed with his personal care and respectful of his physique like few others. The forward has been a starter in each of Barça's games this season, and there are no signs that the German decides to rotate him soon.

In the midst of his good start to the season, several rumours link the Catalan team with some of the best number '9' of today. However, the immediate future of the position would still go through 'Lewy'. The Pole's contract expires in 2025, but the initial agreement included a fourth year that would automatically start if the player played a certain percentage of games (close to 50%), and at the rate he is going, there is no doubt that the player will meet this quota.

Lewandowski is untouchable for Flick

So far, Robert has been a starter in each of the official matches. The goalscorer is the fourth most used player by Flick and has played 804 minutes, only behind Koundé (900'), Raphinha (841') and Lamine Yamal (812'), being also a leader on and off the field.

Aware of his importance in the squad, Lewandowski's intention is to complete that fourth year in Barcelona. At Can Barça, for their part, they would look favorably on this option, although, of course, the context may change later. However, the club will begin planning for next season at the beginning of next year and there will not be a '9' in the section of big signings, since, by contract and relevance, Robert has earned the right to continue defending the position.
