FC Barcelona could sign a European football superstar in 2025. Joan Laporta stated on Barça One that, for the club, "anything is possible", although there will be no hasty expenses
The FC Barcelona board does not close the door to the signing of a superstar in the next summer market. In principle, the club should have by then the necessary financial solvency to sign without restrictions (with the wage bill balanced and back to 1/1) and Joan Laporta himself admitted in a talk with Barça One the Barça team's plans as far as 'top' reinforcements are concerned.
"For Barça, anything is possible. That's why it's important for the entity to be strong. The players want to come for the style, the city, the climate... That's why I ask for institutional stability," the Barça president began by saying. In that sense, he made it clear that, beyond the rumors, the club will be very careful when making a significant expense in the market.
"What we will not do is sign for the sake of signing because at home we have a lot of talent. We will only sign for sporting reasons, for reasons of making a show, never," Laporta emphasized. Last summer, Nico Williams was the big 'soap opera' of the Barça market. By 2025, the Basque will be on the culé radar again, but also other 'cracks' that could leave the Pamplona player somewhat behind if Athletic's '11' maintains the weak level shown during the first month of the season.
"Barça is in a position to sign whoever wants to come. If they have an offer from Barça, they always show interest."
The superstars who could arrive at Barcelona in 2025
One of the names that has been heard most intensely in recent hours is that of Erling Haaland. The possible departure of Pep Guardiola at the end of 2024/25 could set the table for the farewell of the '9', who since his arrival in England has set next summer as the date of his possible departure to another 'big'. At the time, Laporta got wet about his desire to see the Norwegian leading the culé forward, although the price of the 'killer' is around 200 million euros.
On the other hand, in terms of forwards, there are Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz. Either of the two could be an ideal alternative to Nico Williams, although negotiations for the Bayer Leverkusen forward could be somewhat more affordable for the Catalans' finances. The 21-year-old footballer has a starting price of 150 'kilos', while the Bavarian winger will hardly leave the Munich team if he finally renews in the coming months. Otherwise, Barça and other big players could 'catch' him for free in 2026 or, failing that, negotiate a lower transfer next summer (around €120M).
