Tijjani Reijnders, a key player for Milan, is increasingly close to renewing his contract with the 'rossonero' team. Barça had him on their list of possible players

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Tijjani Reijnders has become an essential figure for AC Milan since his arrival in the summer of 2023. The Dutch midfielder has established himself as one of the best in the world in his position, and displays such as the one he offered at the Santiago Bernabéu in the Champions League put him on the radar of clubs such as FC Barcelona and Real Madrid themselves.

The Catalans have been following the 26-year-old footballer for a couple of seasons, when they saw him as a possible replacement for Busquets in the centre of the midfield. Meanwhile, the Merengues, who suffered first-hand the talent of the Milan star, added him to their list of potential players as he could fit the profile that the club is looking for for a 'sensible' midfield after the retirement of Toni Kroos.

Milan are reportedly on track to renew their contract

However, the chances of the Catalans and Real Madrid players securing Reijnders' services are increasingly remote, as the player is more than on track to renew his contract with Milan. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Dutchman is very happy at San Siro and negotiations between both parties are progressing positively, so the final agreement could be reached soon.

The team managed by Paulo Fonseca would 'protect' him with a commitment that would extend beyond 2028 and that would represent an income of 3.5 million euros per season for the player, thus definitively removing the interest of Barça and Madrid in signing him.
