Barça and Madrid are hunting for Dean Huijsen: who will take the jewel?

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Dean Huijsen is set to be one of the major attractions of the upcoming summer transfer market. The 19-year-old center-back has established himself as one of the great sensations of the Premier League with Bournemouth, where he has become an 'untouchable' for Andoni Iraola and is gaining more and more authority in the heart of the defense, aiming to become one of the best in his position despite his young age.

Born in Amsterdam but naturalized Spanish, the defender has already debuted with Spain's senior team, taking over from Pau Cubarsí after the ankle injury suffered by the La Masia youth player in the match against the Netherlands. The defender left a very good impression with La Roja and has been well received in the national team environment, so all indications are that he will be a regular in Luis de la Fuente's call-ups from now on.

His attributes (he is 1.97m tall, is ambidextrous, and stands out for his good footwork) and his outstanding performance both at the club and national level make him a true 'gem' ahead of the transfer window. In fact, several of the top clubs on the continent are already closely monitoring him, with FC Barcelona and Real Madrid being two of the most interested in signing him.

Barça is on alert and Madrid is already making moves

According to 'SPORT', the offices at Santiago Bernabéu have already begun moves to secure Huijsen's services, in an attempt to Spanishize the team. Meanwhile, the Blaugrana are very attentive to his situation, but in addition to having other priorities this summer, they would prefer to bet on a more established defender like Jonathan Tah, who, among other things, would join the squad at no cost.

The Bournemouth, for its part, will ask for a fee ranging between 45 and 55 million euros for Huijsen, whose contract expires in 2030 and whose buyout clause is valued at 50 'kilos'. A price that, at first glance, seems high, but considering the present and, above all, the projection of the player, could make him a 'bargain'.

In England, they are aware of this, so clubs like Liverpool and Tottenham are also closely monitoring him. The player is a familiar face for Barça, who in 2021 engaged in a bidding war with Madrid to sign him when he was playing for Málaga, although he ultimately decided to join Juventus. Now, four years later, they could return to pursue his signing, hoping to convince him with the ambitious winning project, filled with young stars, that is being built under Hansi Flick.
