In Germany they once again put Jonathan Tah with one foot outside Bayer Leverkusen. The central defender seems to have ruled out renewing and could leave in winter for an affordable price for FC Barcelona's finances

Jonathan Tag's future seems increasingly distant from Bayer Leverkusen. Although the 28-year-old defender remains a key piece in Xabi Alonso's scheme, negotiations between the club and the footballer remain stalled regarding his renewal. The German international will be free to negotiate with any team from January 1, as his contract ends in June.

In that sense, the latest information points to Leverkusen's interest in listening to offers for the Hamburg player in the next winter market, given the risk of losing him for free in the summer. In principle, Bayer would accept an offer in the order of 15 million euros, half of its current value on Transfermarkt. In the last transfer window, his agent, Pini Zahavi, tried without success to negotiate his transfer to a 'big' team in Europe. Hence, relations between the parties have deteriorated in recent months, opening the door to one of the defenders in the FC Barcelona orbit.

Barça does not rule out going for Jonathan Tag in winter

In principle, the culé board would prefer to wait until the end of 2024/25 to negotiate with Tah, since in this way they could sign him at 'zero cost'. However, the change of plans of the current Bundesliga champion with the center-back could lead Barça to fully enter the bid for the defender in January, waiting for what happens with Ronald Araújo and Andreas Christensen. Both should return to the Barcelona squad in winter, as long as the club does not receive an interesting offer.

For the culés, both the Dane and the 'Charrúa' were transferable players in the summer, but their injuries closed the door to any negotiations. In the case of Jonathan Tag, like Joshua Kimmich, it is an alternative that both the coaching staff and Deco really like, although the salary issue can be complicated with both. Barça hopes to return to the 1/1 rule before the end of the year, a determining factor in evaluating options to reinforce itself in January.
