Barça, led by Hansi Flick, would be studying options to reinforce the left back. After the departure of Marcos Alonso, the name of a former Real Madrid player would have appeared on the agenda of the Barcelona entity

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Although the club's priority is quite clear (Nico Williams or 'barbarism'), FC Barcelona continues 'combing' the transfer market in search of opportunities to reinforce some specific positions in the squad. One of them would be the left back, where Alejandro Balde aims to be 'indisputable' for Hansi Flick given the lack of personnel who can compete for the place with the youth player. Gerard Martín left very good feelings on the tour of the United States and could stay in the first team, but it will be the German who will have the last word.

Álex Valle is experiencing a similar situation, who seemed to be Balde's natural replacement at the beginning of the summer. On the pre-season tour, the Barça coach even used him as a right back, showing his confidence in the player. However, his continuity in the first team remains unknown and, as of today, his departure through a loan or transfer has not been ruled out, although this scenario seems less likely.

The truth is that the left side of the defense would still be undefined and a vacancy would be available given the doubts that exist around the two youth players. Despite the fact that Martín has an advantage to be the replacement for the Barça '3', the Catalans would not rule out leaving him another year at Barça Atlètic to continue his progression and would look for a low-profile replacement to be Balde's alternative in Flick's scheme.

In that sense, journalist Lyall Thomas from the 'Sky Sports' network has assured that the Can Barça offices would be exploring the option of Sergio Reguilón to reinforce the left back. The defender's contract expires in 2025 and Tottenham would welcome his transfer, so the Baugrana entity would be investigating his situation and exploring the conditions of the possible agreement that would take him to Barcelona.

A 'low cost' option with experience

The Spurs acquired Reguilón's services in the summer of 2020 in exchange for 30 million euros from Real Madrid. After several loan spells at Atlético de Madrid, Manchester United and Brentford, the player's performance is still not convincing in London and he would not be part of Ange Postecoglou's plans, so they would be looking for a way out. Barça would be analyzing his arrival since, at 27 years old, the full-back has a lot of experience in LaLiga, which is why he would be an immediate performance replacement for Balde.

It seems difficult for the Blaugranas to agree to pay a transfer for the Madrid player, but they could take advantage of Tottenham's need to get rid of the player to land him through a loan. If this alternative materializes, Reguilón would begin his fourth 'adventure' in a First Division team, since in addition to the two clubs in the capital, the defender also wore the Sevilla shirt. His hierarchy and, above all, his price, make him a more than interesting opportunity for the Catalans, who would make one of the most unexpected signings on the market.
