FIFA will open a 'special' market in June 2025

After confirming the venues for the tournament last weekend, the highest football body announced this Thursday the opening of a 'special' transfer market for the 32 teams that They will compete in the new FIFA competition that takes the place in the international summer calendar corresponding to the defunct Confederations Cup.

In a statement, FIFA announced the opening of an exclusive transfer window, from June 1 to 10, 2025, with which all clubs will be able to buy and sell footballers before the start of the World Cup. However, this is not a unilateral decision, since each federation or association with at least one team present in the tournament will decide whether or not to open the market, after conversation with the board of directors of the clubs involved.

For this reason, both Real Madrid and Atlético, the only representatives of LaLiga in the World Cup, need the endorsement of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to strengthen themselves before the start of the competition to be played in the United States on June 15. to July 13, 2025. Both teams have a tough schedule ahead of them both in Spain and in Europe, so it is very likely that they will seek to strengthen themselves for the World Cup.

The 2025 European market will officially open on July 1 and, for now, maintains its closing date for August 30, this in the case of the Spanish LaLiga. However, the closing date could be brought forward a couple of weeks, to August 15, as long as the employers agree, together with the rest of Europe's major leagues, to unify the 'deadline' for the summer window. In winter, for their part, clubs will be able to reinforce themselves from January 2 to February 3.
