Despite rumours that indicated a possible departure from the 'red' team this summer, winger Luis Díaz already knows where he will play the 2024/25 season and everything seems to be under the orders of Arne Slot

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Arne Slot's Liverpool are starting to take shape. The Anfield club will face Sevilla in the last pre-season match this Sunday at 13:00 (Spanish time) and the Dutch coach will be able to count on several of his international stars who were still on holiday after playing in the Euro Cup and the Copa America. One of them is Luis Díaz, who was runner-up in America with Colombia and is ready for another season with the Merseyside team.

Despite the fact that other clubs, such as FC Barcelona, were interested in his services and that his future was in doubt for much of the summer, the player has decided to remain with the English team. The Barça board saw the Colombian as an alternative in case the signing of Dani Olmo fell through, but as that was not the case, the Blaugrana entity seems to have closed the door for the moment.

Díaz wants to gain Slot's trust

It is clear that Liverpool is entering a new era after Jürgen Klopp left the team in the summer. Therefore, it is normal that with the arrival of Slot several changes are made and not all players are benefited. This is the case of Díaz, who will have to work hard to gain the trust of his coach to be a starter on the left side of the attack. Right now, Cody Gakpo would be the starter in the Dutchman's scheme, so a positional fight could arise between him and the Colombian.

At the moment, the player is already clear that he will not be present in the first two days of the 2024/25 Premier League season, at least as a starter. This was made known to him by Slot, who wants him to continue preparing before starting the campaign. The same guideline will apply to his Uruguayan teammate, Darwin Núñez. This year will be key for the Colombian because, if he does not have minutes, he could look for an exit in the summer or even in the winter market.
