THE GERMAN COULD STAY IN MUNICH
Joshua Kimmich's future takes a 180º turn
Bad news for FC Barcelona. Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl confirmed that he spoke with Joshua Kimmich about his future. The German is reportedly close to renewing his contract with the Bavarian team, which would close the door on a chance in La Liga
Joshua Kimmich is one of the best midfielders in the world. Both the Catalans and Real Madrid have him on their agenda for possible signings. Both the Catalans and Real Madrid have him on their agenda for possible signings, however, everything seems to indicate that the German international is getting closer to continuing to play at the Allianz Arena, despite the fact that Hansi Flick would love to meet him again in Barcelona.
The statements of the sporting director, Max Eberl, suggest that the first contacts with the world champion have been quite positive, so they hope to count on him in the coming years. The Bavarian team is currently in South Korea on its pre-season tour and before leaving for Asia, the leader revealed to the special envoys accompanying the team: "we had a conversation (with Kimmich) and we talked (about his future)."
Eberl did not comment on too many details about this first contact, but he did admit that Kimmich's relationship with the club's board has not always been the best, "it is possible that he recently went through a moment that was not so satisfactory," but he quickly added that "the first conversation we had after the Euros was very positive and open on both sides. We will see what happens next. But the fact is that Joshua should play an important role for us."
Max Eberl distances Kimmich from LaLiga
Although his continuity in the Bavarian team is not guaranteed, all fronts are open right now. It is important to note that the German has considered staying in Munich until 2025 to leave for free, a plan that would suit both Madrid and Barça and even teams like PSG.
However, Kimmich's own words after the friendly against Tottenham Hotspur seem to open a way to renewal: "In general, you can always talk sensibly. “I think all doors are always open to everyone,” he said when asked about the planned meeting with Max Eberl. It must be remembered that the player represents himself, so everything will be decided when he makes a decision.
The advantage that Bayern have at the moment is that Thomas Tuchel is no longer in charge of the team and that the board with which he had disagreements is no longer there. For this reason, the German would be more willing to come to an understanding with the club's management, because they do not want another case like that of David Alaba, who left for free to Real Madrid. “The truth is that I feel very comfortable in Munich. My children were born there, we have our home,” he recalled. “Last season was not very good and it is not what Bayern or I want. Now I am very hungry (for titles) and have a lot of energy for the new season. We have great objectives for each other,” concluded the sextuple winner. Can Barça still dream of Kimmich? We will find out soon.
