FC Barcelona needs to finalize at least a couple of sales this summer to free up 'Fair Play'. Yes, the club has returned to the 1:1 rule, but it needs cash to strengthen itself.

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The return of FC Barcelona to the 1:1 rule, thanks to the money received from the sale of the exploitation rights of 475 VIP boxes at the new Spotify Camp Nou, does not mean a free pass for the blue and garnet team regarding the incorporation of players this year. Although the 1:1 allows the club to sign without financial limitations, investing all the money received from the sale of players and/or tangible assets, Barça still needs to free up salary mass and bring in cash to acquire reinforcements. In this sense, several players can help the club with their departure to be able to sign normally this summer.

💶At FCBN, we review several key names to free up 'Fair Play' in the upcoming market:

📌Frenkie de Jong: has greatly improved his situation within the blue and garnet squad thanks to several outstanding performances in the last month of competition. However, the management insists on updating his contract or resolving his transfer in the next market, as the €19M gross he earns annually complicates the financial situation for Barça. A sale in the order of 50 'kilos' would satisfy Barça, but the Dutchman does not want to leave.

📌Andreas Christensen: the Dane has had very bad luck with injuries this season. However, he remains a well-regarded defender in the Premier League after his successful stint at Chelsea and his sale should bring in around 15 'kilos' to the blue and garnet coffers. Christensen is under contract until 2026 and, despite his complex current situation in the team, he did not want to listen to offers in the past winter market.

📌Ansu Fati: the player from Bissau is one of the headaches for the management, as his salary (around €14M gross) and the little he has played this season greatly complicate his options for negotiating a definitive transfer. Barça expected to earn around 30 million from his sale, a figure that practically no club in Europe is willing to pay for him this year.

📌Ferran Torres: the 'Shark' has been one of the names frequently placed on Barça's transfer list during recent markets, as several clubs from England and Italy are keeping an eye on his future. However, Ferran insists on staying, and the club's intention is clear: the '7' will only leave if an offer in the order of 30 'kilos' arrives that has the player's 'ok'. A loan or a low transfer (15-20M €) is not contemplated, as Torres has been performing at a very good level in recent weeks.

📌Ronald Araujo: Barça closed the door to his departure to Juventus in January, renewing him until 2031. However, his future in the blue and garnet team is not 100% guaranteed, as the 'charrúa' reserved the option to leave in the summer to a team willing to pay 65 million euros net for his transfer. Everything will depend on the prominence he has in the last three months of the 24/25 season with Hansi Flick's team.

💶Other Sales That Can Help Barça a Lot

Additionally, there are other players who can leave several million in the culé coffers if they decide to try their luck at another team. Players like Pau Víctor and Pablo Torre have a very complicated time finding a place in Hansi Flick's plans for the future, but they would probably go out on loan to gain experience at other LaLiga clubs. On the contrary, other figures with a much more interesting market value are:

📌Fermín López: The player from Huelva continues to improve his offensive records as the first substitute for the blue and garnet midfield. At the same time, his market value continues to rise, already reaching 50 million euros. Fermín does not seem to have intentions of leaving this year, but if he did, he would surely leave a significant amount in cash, with Barça likely reserving a high percentage of his sporting rights or a future sale.

📌Eric García: The 24-year-old defender also has a lot of market both inside and outside of Spain. Flick halted his departure in January, but for the summer, it is likely he will leave again, especially if the club finalizes the signing of Jonathan Tah or another central defender. His transfer could close for a figure close to 15-20 million, not bad considering that Barça signed him for 'free.'

📌Iñaki Peña: The same goes for the player from Alicante. If the club finally closes the renewal of Wojciech Szczesny, it is very likely that the 25-year-old goalkeeper will ask to leave, as he would be relegated to a residual position behind the Polish player and a Ter Stegen who hopes to return in top physical condition in the summer. Iñaki is under contract until 2026 and could easily leave around 10 'kilos' in cash.
