Viktor Gyökeres is still waiting for an offer from FC Barcelona next summer. Manchester United has outbid the Catalans with a huge offer, but the Swede prefers to wait to define his destination.
FC Barcelona seems to be Viktor Gyökeres' preferred option for next summer. The Swedish international knows that his days at Sporting CP are numbered, especially as the Lisbon team continues to plummet after the departure of coach Rúben Amorim. The team is on the brink of elimination in the Champions League after losing at home to Borussia Dortmund (0-3) in the first leg of the 'play-off', and in the league, they have accumulated two consecutive draws that have allowed Benfica to close in to just 2 points from the top.
In this regard, Amorim himself is trying to convince him to sign with Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window. Recent reports indicate an offer in the region of 75 million euros from the 'red devils', a figure that matches the current market value of the '9'. The 26-year-old forward has a contract until 2028, and Sporting dreams of a transfer in the region of 100 million euros, but they will likely have to let their top scorer go for an amount close to what 'Man U' has put on the table.
Viktor Gyökeres is Clear: He Must Wait for an Offer from Barça
However, Gyökeres prefers to take things slowly and has paused negotiations with United. The same is happening with Paris Saint-Germain, the other club that is strongly pursuing him for the 2025/26 season. After the fiasco of signing Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani, the Parisian team is targeting the Stockholm native to take charge of the team's goal production, a task that this season has surprisingly fallen to Ousmane Dembélé.
Meanwhile, Barcelona is also waiting to join the 'race' for Viktor, although the management has a clear roadmap for the upcoming market. First, they need to resolve all pending renewals. Once the club defines the future of all the players in the squad, they will determine who will be on the transfer list and who will be discarded. From there, the club will have a clear idea of how much money they have to strengthen the team for the 25/26 season.
Initially, Barça should not make more than two or three signings, as both the management and the coaching staff are very satisfied with the team and the results obtained so far. If they decide that Gyökeres is the best option regarding forwards, it is likely that the azulgrana team will present an offer similar to that of United, offering a salary starting at 5 million euros net to the Swedish international (double what he currently earns at Sporting).
