Manchester City has opened the exit door for Jack Grealish. Could the Englishman be the ideal winger for FC Barcelona?
Jack Grealish seems to have his days numbered at Manchester City. The English international has disappeared from the Manchester squad in recent weeks, as Pep Guardiola has relegated him to a secondary role despite the numerous injuries suffered by the team. Evidence of this is his scarce appearances so far in 2025.
This season, Jack has scored a couple of goals and provided 5 assists in 29 matches (1,319 minutes) with the 'sky blue' team. This year, however, he has played only 7 minutes in two Premier League matches and, in the Champions League, he was a substitute in the last four matches played by the team between January and February.
Therefore, 'Football Insider' claims that the 29-year-old winger will leave City this summer, even though he is under contract until June 2027. For now, several English clubs are keeping an eye on his future, although the high cost of his salary (he cost 117 million euros) points more towards a loan than a permanent transfer.
Jack Grealish, a viable option for Barça?
In this sense, the Birmingham native could find a place in an FC Barcelona willing to make a significant investment for a left winger this summer. The Barça board has Nico Williams and Rafael Leao as top options to strengthen their already devastating attack. In Grealish's case, there would be two significant obstacles to a potential negotiation with City.
On one hand, there is the salary aspect. Jack earns 18.2 million euros gross per year, a salary very difficult to fit into Barça's wage bill. Additionally, the English forward is known for his hectic nightlife, a determining factor in the drop in performance he has shown in the last two seasons. Hansi Flick is very strict with disciplinary matters and would hardly want to incorporate a player with the background of the '10' from Manchester into the Catalan squad.
