Barça is rubbing its hands together with the future of Guille Fernández. The midfielder from the Barça youth team is in the sights of several big clubs in Europe
The FC Barcelona board expects offers for Guille Fernández this summer. Although the midfielder has been called up to the first team for six La Liga matchdays and three Champions League matches, he has not made his official debut due to the intense competition in his position. This situation would lead the 16-year-old youth player to look for a place in another team in 2025-26, beyond Hansi Flick's intention to take him on the next Barça pre-season tour.
Guille renewed his contract with FC Barcelona in July 2024, with an agreement that links him to the club until June 2027. During the renewal, he accepted less lucrative contractual conditions with the expectation of having more opportunities to play in the first team, a promise that has not yet been fulfilled.
So far, the player from Rubí has 5 goals and 1 assist in 26 matches with Barça Atlètic (1,696 minutes). For Barça, a transfer in the order of 5 million euros, with a buy-back option, would be well valued. However, the option of a one-season loan is also still open, although ideally the player would be renewed beforehand to ensure a high transfer fee in the future.
This is how the 'race' for Guiller Fernández is shaping up for the next summer market
In that sense, several European teams are interested in signing the Spanish midfielder, one of the players with the best projection from the Barça youth team, capable of shining in a team that has had many problems this year in the Primera RFEF. In fact, Sergi Milà's team is currently in the relegation zone to the fourth category of Spanish football, the Segunda RFEF.
The latest information points to the following teams as being the most interested in signing Guille Fernández:
- FC Porto: the Portuguese would be considering an offer similar to the one they made for Nico González (they paid 21.2M in 2023), with a buy-back option for Barcelona.
- Bayern Munich: the Bavarian team has shown interest in the midfielder, at the request of coach Vincent Kompany. Bayern already poached Thiago Alcântara from the Barça team at the time.
- Borussia Dortmund: is also among the clubs that are closely following the young midfielder, looking to leave Bayern without a Spanish 'pearl'.
- Manchester City: Pep Guardiola's team does not rule out going for the Barça youth player, given the need to reinforce their Achilles heel in 24-25, the center of the field.
