Barça hopes to close Hansi Flick's renewal in June. The coach has a contract until June 2026, but the club seeks to sign him for one more year. Discover the keys to the operation!
The FC Barcelona board has the renewal of Hansi Flick well underway. Just as with the team's key players, the club wishes to start the next season with all its contracts valid, at least, until the summer of 2027. In the case of the coach, there are no doubts regarding the need to extend his link with the club for one more year.
The coach signed last summer for two seasons, until June 2026, for which Barça seeks to ensure his continuity until the end of 2026-27. This way, there will be much more peace of mind to prepare for the next season.
The board's idea is to close the operation in June, before the end of the 24-25 financial year on the 30th. Barça will take a vacation until mid-July, so it is key to have everything resolved with the coaching staff once the current season ends.
What are the keys to Hansi Flick's renewal?
In that sense, there are two factors that condition the signing of Flick's new contract. On one hand, there is the financial issue and, on the other, the sporting one. Regarding 'Fair Play', Barça has in its hands the return to rule 1:1, fundamental to be able to register new contracts.
- VIP Boxes: until the income from the VIP seats of the new Spotify Camp Nou is resolved, it will not be possible to invoice the 100 million euros from this operation in the 2024-25 financial year. To resolve the mess, the club must demonstrate that the boxes are fully built and operational before next June 30.
- Board: regarding the sporting aspect, Flick hopes to count on the continuity of Joan Laporta and Deco at the head of the club. If he renews until 2027, the coach would spend a season at the head of the team with another board in charge, this provided that Laporta loses the elections in 2026.
A scenario, this last one, unlikely, since the president has the majority support of the members. Furthermore, obtaining a new treble this 2025 would undoubtedly guarantee the continuity of his management for 5 more years. As things stand, the table seems set for a renewal that all Barcelona fans will applaud standing.
Flick has no doubts about his immediate future

A couple of weeks ago, the coach wanted to settle the debate about his renewal, assuring in a press conference that he feels very comfortable in the club and the city. "The atmosphere is fantastic. This is a family. All the club employees are fantastic. Also, I have a good time, I enjoy Barcelona and the people," said the man from Heidelberg.
In that sense, he made it clear that, although he feels with plenty of energy to continue, he prefers not to sign contracts that are too long. " That is the situation now, one year and we will see what happens, step by step, year by year. If we continue happy, one more year. I would like to finish the work I do with a good grade," he argued in the preview of the match against Leganés.
Flick's numbers at Barça admit no discussion
For the moment, the coach maintains a victory percentage of 75%, product of 39 wins in 52 matches this season. In that period, Barça maintains an impressive goal difference of +95, after scoring 152 goals (2.92 per match) and receiving 56 (1.07).
In that sense, Flick maintains the second-best percentage of victories among the Barça coaches, only surpassed by Luis Enrique. The Asturian achieved 138 wins in 181 presentations (76%) between 2014 and 2017, winning 8 titles in 3 seasons.
Counting the draws, the current Barça coach, for the moment, has achieved 78.85% of the points in dispute, with 6 draws and 7 defeats in 24-25. Barça has only lost a couple of matches in the Champions League (Monaco and Dortmund), in addition to another 5 duels in the first round of LaLiga.
