Galatasaray was one of the teams interested in Iñaki Peña. However, the Turks have reportedly set their sights on Andriy Lunin, dismissing the Barça goalkeeper.

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Iñaki Peña seems to have his hours numbered at FC Barcelona. Although his future at the club is not entirely clear, the outlook for the Alicante native in the Catalan city is far from encouraging. The Blaugrana entity and Wojciech Szczesny are getting closer to signing the renewal of the Polish player for one more season, and with the imminent return of Marc-André Ter Stegen, the '25' would be left without a place in the Barça goal.

In fact, until a couple of months ago, the Catalans' intention was to start negotiations with Peña to extend his current contract, which expires in 2026, before the end of the season. However, the conversations froze after 'Tek's' 'surpass' in the goal, so it seems that the academy player will have to seek a new destination next summer to avoid hindering his progress at 26 years old.

In this sense, several clubs would be closely following Iñaki's situation, with Galatasaray being one of them. The goalkeeper was part of the Turkish team's squad during the second half of the 2021-2022 season, and his time at the Nef Stadium was successful, which is why the 'Lions' considered his return for the next season to take over from Fernando Muslera in goal.

Galatasaray would have a new target for the goal

Despite this, the portal 'Fanatik' has revealed that 'Galata' would have shifted its interest towards the capital, where Andriy Lunin would be the chosen one by the management to protect the yellow and red goal. The Ukrainian goalkeeper, who performed well last season, has been displaced again by Thibaut Courtois, and at 26 years old, he would be looking for a new challenge where he can count on minutes and regularity.

This situation would be taken advantage of by the Ottoman team, which would prefer to bet on the Madrid goalkeeper rather than the Barça goalkeeper. However, Peña still has a long list of suitors who will almost certainly try to incorporate him into their ranks at the end of the current season.

Clubs like Real Betis and Celta de Vigo would be preparing respective offensives to keep the player in LaLiga, while Paris Saint-Germain would also be monitoring his future at Can Barça and would not rule out making an offer for his signing if Gianluigi Donnarumma ultimately leaves Parc des Princes.
