Iñaki Peña: Which LaLiga clubs are looking for him if he leaves FC Barcelona?

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Are Iñaki Peña's days as a player for FC Barcelona nearing their end? Although the situation is not entirely clear, it is evident that the outlook for the 26-year-old Alicante goalkeeper in the azulgrana team is not the most encouraging, as his opportunities to guard the goal for the Barcelona team are becoming increasingly scarce. Especially with the great level that Wojciech Szczęsny is demonstrating, who has been starting in the culé goal for several matches and with truly stellar performances.

The scenario becomes even more complicated for the next season, as Iñaki Peña, who has not yet renewed his contract with FC Barcelona that ties him until June 30, 2026, could even find himself relegated to the position of third goalkeeper, with the return of Marc-André ter Stegen and the possible extension of 'Tek's contract, who could extend his stay as a blaugrana for another year.

This situation would likely motivate Iñaki Peña to consider the option of seeking new horizons to obtain the regularity he needs in his game and that he has not been able to achieve at FC Barcelona. At the same time, this is a negotiation that the Catalan club might view favorably, as it would bring in some 'kilos' for a player from their academy and free up space in the salary scale.

Two teams join the race for the signing of Iñaki Peña, which are they?

Recently, as mentioned in FCBN, Iñaki Peña has reportedly caught the interest of a couple of teams, Galatasaray and Paris Saint-Germain. However, it seems that they are not the only teams interested in him. In fact, as suggested by 'SPORT', there are two other squads that have entered the conversation as possible candidates to try to sign '13' in the near future: Real Betis and Celta de Vigo.

Real Betis

It is worth noting that, for example, with Real Betis, FC Barcelona would facilitate his transfer due to the good relationship it maintains with the 'verdiblanco' club. This bond was strengthened by the situation regarding Vitor Roque and his transfer to Palmeiras, due to how the Andalusians behaved in a transaction where, given the circumstances, they had to make a significant sacrifice by letting one of their scorers go mid-season without the option to reinforce themselves.

A gesture that FC Barcelona rewarded by granting an additional percentage of the ownership of Ez Abde to the Betis side, which could result in another reward by facilitating the transfer of Iñaki Peña under favorable conditions for the Andalusians. By the way, they have already secured the signing of Álvaro Valles for the upcoming season, which would further strengthen their goalkeeping.

Celta de Vigo

On the other hand, in the case of Celta de Vigo, the goalkeeping situation for the next season is a bit more complicated. It should be remembered that Vicente Guaita, their starting goalkeeper, ends his contract on June 30, 2025, and no agreement has yet been reached for his renewal.

If he does not renew, Iñaki Peña seems to be the option that the sports management of the Galician team likes the most. Now it all depends on the Alicante player's decision, whether he wants to continue fighting for a starting spot at Barça or if he seeks to explore other options to play more minutes.
