Joshua Kimmich seems to be closer to renewing with Bayern Munich. The German revealed the factors that could accelerate the extension of his contract
The future of Joshua Kimmich seems to be close to being defined. The German, who has been on the radar of FC Barcelona for a couple of years, is out of contract with Bayern Munich at the end of the season and negotiations to extend his stay in Bavaria had been more than stalled, with everything indicating that the player would leave the Bundesliga for the upcoming season.
However, the midfielder's destiny may have taken a radical turn in recent weeks, as the player himself confessed in an interview with 'Sky'. "The probability of me staying is much higher than last summer because I see how we are playing football. That has a lot to do with the coach," the German began to say.
"All of Germany sees that we are playing in a different way. It looks better and it’s something that I really enjoy", highlighted Kimmich about the playing style of Bayern, who under the orders of Vincent Kompany are at the top of the German league standings and are on the verge of direct qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
The keys to renewing with Bayern
Beyond this, the midfielder made it clear that his final decision will not depend solely on emotional factors, but also on an optimal sports project to face the final stretch of his career. "This is a very decisive moment for me. We all know the reasons that favor the renewal, but I must reflect on where I can have the greatest sporting success in the next three or four years", he explained.
Finally, he made it clear that the future of other stars, such as Jamal Musiala or Alphonso Davies, at the Allianz Arena will also have a significant influence on his stay at Bayern. "It is definitely an important factor how the team will look in the coming years. What one player or another does also counts," he concluded.
