Raphinha, star of Barça, attracts interest from Europe. City could make a record offer for the '11' from Barcelona
Raphinha has established himself this season as one of the most lethal forwards in the world. With two months left until the end of the 2024-25 season, the FC Barcelona winger is emerging as one of the main favorites for the Ballon d'Or 2025 thanks to his spectacular numbers with the blue and garnet team. The '11' has already scored 27 goals and provided 20 assists in 42 matches (3,441 minutes), which has sparked interest from several top clubs in Europe and the multimillion-dollar Arab league.
According to the British portal 'CaughtOffside', Manchester City could make an offer for Raphinha next summer. Pep Guardiola's team is considering letting go of Jack Grealish next season, and the Barça star would be the chosen one to lead, alongside Erling Haaland, the new attack of the 'sky blue' team. Initially, the City's offer would far exceed 80 million euros, the current value of the 27-year-old forward.
Raphinha has a contract with Barça until June 2027 and, although his release clause is 1,000 'kilos', the management does not rule out renewing him in the coming months, as the Brazilian has earned his star status in Hansi Flick's team. After two seasons at an acceptable level under Xavi Hernández's orders, the '11' has made an impressive leap in quality in the 24-25 season, becoming one of the leaders and captains of the Barça locker room.
Is City willing to make a record transfer to sign Raphinha?
However, City understands that the next transfer market is the time to strengthen the squad in all its lines, and the management will not spare expenses to reverse the poor performance of Pep Guardiola's team in the 24-25 season. With Raphinha, the club could even surpass the 117.5 million euros it paid for Grealish from Aston Villa in 2021. The Brazilian has been on the radar of clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle for several years, but the winger has never doubted his desire to make history with Barça.
In 2022, in fact, the player turned down a higher offer from Chelsea to sign with Barça. In total, the '11' has scored 47 goals and provided 45 assists in 129 official matches with the blue and garnet jersey. His trophy cabinet already includes one La Liga and two Supercopa de España titles, a collection that this year aims to add up to three more titles, as Flick's team is still in the running for the treble. Will Barcelona accept an offer exceeding 100 'kilos' for Raphinha? For now, the forward is untouchable.
