Hansi Flick insists on signing Jonathan Tah next summer. The arrival of the German international could be key to Ronald Araujo's future, despite his recent renewal
Jonathan Tah may hold Ronald Araujo's future at FC Barcelona in his hands. The German defender seemed to have everything set to arrive at 'zero cost' to the Blaugrana next summer, but the renewal of the Uruguayan international cooled the rumors about the incorporation of the Bayer Leverkusen captain. However, Hansi Flick insists on signing the Hamburg player, a luxury reinforcement for the culés for the 2025-26 season that, in turn, could affect the plans of the Catalan '4'.
One indication of this is the 'charrúa's' insistence on maintaining an affordable exit price. In principle, Ronald could leave Barcelona next summer for 65 million euros, a price that will progressively increase by 15 'kilos' for each transfer window (80M€ in winter, 95 in the summer of 2026...). Although the 25-year-old defender hopes to stay at the club for many years, everything will depend on the prominence he secures from now until May.
In this sense, the signing of Tah, along with the continuity of Iñigo Martínez and the consolidation of Pau Cubarsí could open the exit door for the '4' in June. Araujo is still not at peak competitive rhythm, and with the Basque ready to return and Eric García leaving good impressions in his recent appearances, the competition for a spot in Hansi Flick's starting eleven is more intense than ever.
Juventus and Inter Seek to Keep Jonathan Tah Away from Barcelona
Despite Jonathan's intention to secure his arrival in Barcelona, the 28-year-old defender also has doubts about what his role will be with Hansi Flick's team next season. This factor gives hope to other clubs to try to convince him to leave Bayer Leverkusen for a team where he can remain indispensable. Recent rumors point to Juventus and Inter Milan as the most interested in acquiring the services of the German.
After the fiasco of the failed signing of Araujo, Juve has set its sights on Tah, an operation that is much more profitable and can also leave coach Thiago Motta very satisfied. However, Simone Inzaghi also wants him for his team and, given their current sporting situation, the 'nerazzurri' are undoubtedly at an advantage. Inter is having another great season and hopes to establish itself as a powerful club in Europe. In 2023, they were close to glory, reaching the Champions League final.
