Barça needs to speed up for Jonathan Tah. The German is willing to wait for the club, but he wants to define his future as soon as possible
The name of Jonathan Tah is one of the most talked about in the halls of Spotify Camp Nou. The center-back has reportedly decided not to renew with Bayer Leverkusen and is set to leave as a free agent next summer, a situation that FC Barcelona wants to take advantage of to bring him into their ranks at no cost, considering him an unbeatable market opportunity.
Hansi Flick considers him a key reinforcement for the defense, especially given the uncertainty surrounding Andreas Christensen and Eric García, whose contracts expire in 2026 and whose continuity at the club is far from guaranteed. The management plans to cash in on the Dane during the summer window to free up salary space, while the youth player has a strong reputation in LaLiga and will surely receive tempting offers, which is why the German is at the top of the Catalans' list of potential signings.
Until a couple of months ago, the agreement between the German and the Barça seemed to be a done deal, and everything pointed to his arrival at the club being secured. However, as the weeks have passed, the operation has cooled down, and this has sparked urgency in the center-back, who is starting to feel pressured to decide and intends to communicate this to the club when new and imminent contacts occur.
Tah wants to make a decision as soon as possible
According to 'SPORT', to formalize the agreement that would bring Tah into Hansi Flick's squad, certain conditions need to be met that are currently not being fulfilled. Deco already explained at the time that if the squad has four center-backs, it will be difficult to accommodate a fifth, so everything depends on the departure of one of the players in this position.
The German, for his part, continues to wait for Barça, but is starting to feel pressured to decide and, unfortunately, there are still no movements from the City of Barcelona. The player knows that the situation is stalled but is willing to delay his decision to see if the Catalans set the wheels in motion and make his dream of wearing the blue and garnet jersey a reality. A scenario that seems unlikely to happen before summer, so 'Jona' will have to exercise patience or consider other alternatives.
The interest from the Premier League in Ronald Araujo could drastically increase Tah's options, as clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal have shown interest in the Uruguayan. However, this saga will extend until summer, and the German hopes to have his decision made by then. The outlook, as of today, is not very encouraging for the defender, who increasingly feels compelled to prepare a 'plan B' in case his arrival at Spotify Camp Nou is not feasible.
