Liverpool are not willing to be left without a top right back this season. Given the possible departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold, the 'reds' would go for Jeremie Frimpong

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Liverpool can interfere in FC Barcelona's market plans with respect to reinforcing the right back in 2025. Given the growing rumors of Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure, Arne Slot's men could soon go for Jeremie Frimpong, one of the Bayer Leverkusen figures.

Both defenders are on the culé radar and, although Barça does not plan to make important moves in January, the plan for the summer will be different. For its part, Liverpool does not want to waste time to reinforce a position where it will probably lose one of its references at the end of 2024/25.

Liverpool does not rule out a swap with Bayer Leverkusen

In that sense, the 'red' team does not rule out offering a barter to Leverkusen to make an exchange of cards that would satisfy both parties. The latest rumors indicate the interest of those from Merseyside in offering Trent as part of the payment for Frimpong, a footballer whom Xabi Alonso considers key in his scheme.

However, the San Sebastian coach is aware of the interest of several big players in the Amsterdam player and, if the defender decides to leave, it will not hinder his departure, although the ideal for Bayer would be to listen to offers in the summer, not in January.

Liverpool's urgencies, on the other hand, are different, since Alexander-Arnold's contract ends in June and, for now, he shows no signs of wanting to renew with the club of his life, where he trained and made his professional debut in 2016. Hence that the 'reds' are willing to let him go for a low price in January.

Barça, very attentive to Frimpong and Alexander-Arnold

At Can Barça, meanwhile, there is moderate expectation for both sides, although the Alexander-Arnold option has sounded more strongly in recent days. The English international could reach 'zero cost', a key factor for the Barça team when it comes to strengthening a position in which, for now, Jules Koundé does not admit any doubt.

However, the possible signing of the still 'red' defender would also have an extra 'plus', due to Real Madrid's interest in the West Derby player. Trent is one of the most liked alternatives in Chamartín to cover the long absence of Dani Carvajal and Barça could deal a hard blow to the 'merengues' if they 'stole' Liverpool's '66'.

With Frimpong, the culés options are much smaller. Leverkusen will not let the Dutchman go for less than 50 million euros, an amount that the Barça board prefers to allocate to strengthening other positions, such as the left-footed winger (if Nico Williams finally arrives).
