Liverpool seems willing to renew its sides in 2025. On the left wing, the board would have set its sights on one of the possible objectives of FC Barcelona
The Liverpool board does not rule out losing its two full-backs in the next summer market. After almost a decade of trusting in the Arnold-Robertson duo, Arne Slot's men have begun the search for full-backs and, on the left, an alternative that sounds strong is Álvaro Carreras, who also sounds like a possible reinforcement for FC Barcelona.
And, according to the latest information, both Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold hope to change scene in 2025, mainly the English international, whose contract expires at the end of this season. The Scot, for his part, still has one more year of contract to fulfill, but his renewal remains stalled and, at 30 years old, he aims to leave the club for an amount close to 20 million euros.
Benfica will wait for the best offer with Álvaro Carreras
However, the Lisbon team will not facilitate the departure of the 21-year-old full-back. Álvaro has a contract until 2029 and his termination clause would be around 30-40 'kilos', an affordable amount for Liverpool, but not for Barça. The Barça team prioritizes signing a pivot, a goalkeeper and, perhaps, another forward, which would significantly reduce their available resources to reinforce themselves.
If they go for a winger, the plan is to sign a 'low cost' option, but Benfica will most likely choose the highest offer. In England they know the man from Ferrol very well after his time in the Manchester United youth team. In the Red Devils' Under-21 team, the defender added 4 goals and 10 assists in 47 games, while, in 24/25, he has been indisputable for coach Bruno Lage.
