FC Barcelona could see its chances of trying to launch an offensive for the left-winger of Juventus, Federico Chiesa, whom the 'Vecchia Signora' has made clear that it is willing to sell this summer, to the point of having removed him from the sporting project by Thiago Motta

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The future of Federico Chiesa at Juventus seems to be already decided. The Genoa-born player, in a significant turn of events, went from being one of the key men in the 'Juve' attack to being deemed dispensable in this summer market of 2024/25. The reason? The arrival of Thiago Motta as the new coach of the 'Vecchia Signora'.

The Italo-Brazilian coach has made it clear that he does not count on the former Fiorentina player in his sporting project, which promises to bring a true revolution to the locker room. "Internally, we were clear with Chiesa. The club is trying to find solutions for him, but he also has to seek solutions as quickly as possible for his own good, the good of the team, and everyone else," expressed the new coach of the Turin team on August 3, after the forward was not called up for the pre-season friendly between Juventus and Stade Brestois (2-2). Also, he was not called up for the friendly match against Atletico Madrid (2-0), which seems to be a clear message regarding the intentions of the 'Bianconeri' with the winger.

Juventus has removed Chiesa from first-team training

Now, the pressure on Federico Chiesa has intensified. Why? Because from this Friday, he has been separated from the group in training, having to work separately from his teammates, alongside other players who are not in Thiago Motta's plans. Considering this premise, it would not be surprising if, following the trend of pre-season friendlies, the former Bologna coach does not call up the Italian winger for the match that the 'Vecchia Signora' will play on Sunday, August 18 against Como 1907 featuring Cesc Fàbregas, in their debut in Serie A 2024/25.

This is nothing more than a coercive measure from his team to urge the forward to seek a new footballing destination, something that Juventus would greatly appreciate. In addition to not fitting into Thiago Motta's project, the forward's contract expires next summer (2025). Therefore, Juventus fears that the Genoese player may decide to extend his stay at the club this summer to negotiate his connection with another team as a free agent. This option, being in the final stage of his contract, could start from January 2025 and possibly materialize in the summer market, which would be a severe blow to the Turin team. It is worth noting that Juventus invested around €50 million in his acquisition in 2022 and could fetch between €20 and €25 million for him.

Will FC Barcelona seize this market opportunity?

This last point is attractive for FC Barcelona, as Federico Chiesa, in his best form, could be a stellar element to reinforce the Blaugrana's attack, especially in the left-wing position they are currently seeking. Moreover, acquiring a player in the range of €20-25 million, who still has years of his best football ahead (26 years old), could be a very valuable option, although his salary of around €5 million net per season may be challenging to fit into the wage scale.

In this regard, if the Barcelona squad is interested in him, given the complications in signings such as Nico Williams as well as Luis Díaz, they would have to act quickly, as being a top asset at a relatively low price, several teams are interested in acquiring his services. Roma is one of the clubs that has shown interest in adding him to their squad this summer, especially if they sell Paulo Dybala to Saudi football. Additionally, according to 'Gazzetta dello Sport', London teams like Chelsea and Tottenham could also be options.
