Milan in crisis: Will they sacrifice Leao in their restructuring?

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The AC Milan is preparing for a revolution next summer. The 'rossoneri' are going through a sporting crisis that forces them to shake the tree from the roots to set the crooked path of the club straight, as this season has been a true disappointment. The team led by Sergio Conceição has accumulated 4 losses, 1 draw, and 1 victory in the last six matches and they barely have any margin to save the season, as they are currently out of everything.

With eleven matches left until the end of the championship in Italy, the situation for 'Il Diavolo' is unsustainable. Despite making a significant investment in the winter with the arrivals of Walker, Joao Félix, and Santiago Giménez, the Portuguese coach has not managed to turn the team's dynamics around and, as of today, they are eliminated from the Champions League, ninth in the Serie A table, and their qualification for European competitions next season is becoming increasingly complicated.

For this reason, 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' claims that, barring a catastrophe, Milan is preparing a deep restructuring at all levels in the summer. In this sense, the future of all members of the Lombard squad is in question, with Rafael Leao being one of the possible sacrifices of the institution to cash in on his transfer and face new signings.

Barça could 'fish in troubled waters'

This scenario could be taken advantage of by FC Barcelona, who are closely monitoring the situation of the Portuguese star at San Siro. The blue and claret entity has prioritized the incorporation of a left winger to the ranks of Hansi Flick, and the Portuguese is one of the preferred options of the sports management and, above all, of Joan Laporta, a great admirer of the player.

The operation for Leao would not be simple, as Milan could ask for around 100 million euros for his transfer and clubs like Chelsea are also after him. However, at Can Barça, they hope to benefit from the crisis of the 'rossoneri' to lower the player's price and reach an agreement that satisfies all parties involved, while they trust in the player's desire to wear the blue and claret jersey to win the race against those interested teams. A new 'saga' has begun.
