FC Barcelona will listen to offers for Eric García in January. In principle, Hansi Flick would not want to lose the Catalan, but the option of an immediate sale seduces the culé board

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Eric García could have his days numbered at FC Barcelona. The 23-year-old defender, out due to a right adductor injury until after the November national team break, has several interested clubs and the Barça board has already set a price for his departure.

In principle, Barça will be willing to do without the '24' for 10 million euros. The defender arrived free in 2021 from Manchester City and has a year and a half more on his contract, until June 2026. At the moment, there have been no approaches for a possible renewal, since the club seems to be leaning more towards the option of a transfer immediate.

Although Eric has been important for Hansi Flick until now, the 'overbooking' of center backs in the squad, along with the returns of Frenkie de Jong and Gavi to the midfield, reduce the opportunities for the culé youth squad in the second half of 2024 /25.

In addition, the club will recover Ronald Araújo and Andreas Christensen in the coming weeks, the latter also with his future up in the air. All this will lead García to consider leaving in January, although Barça prioritizes an immediate sale and not a simple loan, the way by which he left for Girona in 2023/24.

The two LaLiga clubs that remain attentive to the future of Eric García

In that sense, the 'albirrojo' team continues to be the most interested in signing Eric for the second half of the season. Míchel prioritizes recovering the Barça center back to try to recover ground in LaLiga, where the Catalans have shown an irregularity that, for now, places them closer to the red zone than to the European positions.

On the other hand, Real Sociedad would also join the bid for the '24' culé in the next transfer window. Imanol Alguacil's men have not been able to fill the gap left by Robin Le Normand (he signed for Atlético) and García would have the approval of both the board of directors and the San Sebastian coaching staff.

Outside of Spain, some German media have leaked Borussia Dortmund's interest in the Catalan defender. Nuri Sahin's men have been conceding many goals both in the league and in the Champions League and, if they manage to advance at least to the play off of the top European competition, they are willing to acquire a top defender for the final stretch of the season. .

Any of these clubs or others interested in Eric will have to put a minimum of 10 million euros on the table to negotiate with Barça.
