FC Barcelona and Chelsea meet again in a new fight for a jewel of world football. This time, the protagonist is João Victor de Souza, known as Souza, a Brazilian left back who is only 18 years old and is dazzling in the ranks of Santos. His technical and offensive profile has earned him comparisons with Marcelo, the legendary Real Madrid full-back.

A history of market confrontations

It is not the first time that the Blaugranas and the Blues have faced each other in the offices over a promise. In recent years, both clubs have fought real wars for emerging talents. Cases like that of Endrick, the jewel of Palmeiras who ended up at Real Madrid after initial interest from Chelsea and Barça, or the fight for Jules Koundé, in which the culés won, are examples of a rivalry that transcends the fields of game.

More recently, names like Raphinha, who chose to dress as a culé despite a tempting offer from the London club, or the young Brazilian talent Estêvão William, have also been the subject of dispute. Now, Souza seems to be the new chapter in this saga.

Souza, the side that excites Europe

.Souza, with a contract until May 2025, has emerged as one of the great talents of Brazilian football in Serie B. His evolution as a full-back, after training as a winger and midfielder, has allowed him to shine at Santos, being key in tournaments such as the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior and successfully debuting in the first team.

Barcelona and Chelsea are not the only ones interested. According to reports, the English team plans to sign him and loan him to Strasbourg, while Santos seeks to renew him to protect his projection. Even an offer from Saudi Arabia could further complicate negotiations.
