Manchester City has made official the hiring of Omar Marmoush, an interesting option that attracted the attention of FC Barcelona to reinforce its forward line
The Manchester City continues to splash the cash to revitalize a sporting project that has lost momentum in the 2024-25 season, finding themselves far from the fight for the top spot in the Premier League, currently occupying the fifth position in the table. At the same time, they are dealing with the increasingly real possibility of not progressing to the next phase of the UEFA Champions League. A campaign that has been marked by an unprecedented crisis of results and gameplay during the Guardiola era.
After the bitter blow of a 4-2 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, the 'citizen' team has announced the signing of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, 25 years old, from Eintracht Frankfurt. The deal has been sealed with a four-year contract, until 2029, and for a fee of €75 million.

This is Manchester City's third signing in the winter transfer market, having also acquired defenders Vitor Reis from Palmeiras (€37 million) and Abdukodir Khusanov from RC Lens (€40 million), making them one of the most active teams in this period.
Marmoush's statements after his arrival at Manchester City was made official
Upon his arrival at Manchester City, Marmoush expressed his excitement to the club's media: "It's a day I'll never forget. Signing for Manchester City, one of the best teams in the world, is an incredible feeling. I'm thrilled, my family is very proud, and we are all very happy to be here in Manchester."
Omar also shared the reasons that led him to join Manchester City's sporting project: "With Pep, his coaching staff, and the world-class facilities here, players have everything they need to improve. That really attracted me when I had the chance to come here," he began.
"And I can't deny that I also want to win trophies. City has been the most successful club in England for many, many years, so I know I'm joining a winning environment and a winning culture. I want to learn from the staff and my teammates, and I want to become a valuable member of this winning team," he concluded.
FC Barcelona misses out on a new option to strengthen their forward line
With the arrival of Marmoush, who is recognized as one of the best forwards in the Bundesliga and the world, having scored 20 goals and provided 14 assists so far in the 2024-25 season, and being among the top ten candidates for the Golden Boot, FC Barcelona misses the chance to secure his services.
Despite being considered an interesting option to strengthen the Barcelona attack, the competition for his signature and the release clause made him a lower priority for the club. What will his adventure in the Premier League hold now?
