Nico Williams is once again a real possibility for Barça. Bayern has withdrawn from the bidding for his signing and the Catalans are considering his acquisition

Calendar of FC Barcelona

With just under three months until the opening of the transfer market, the name of Nico Williams is back in the spotlight. After being one of the major attractions of the last summer window linked with a possible move to FC Barcelona, the winger decided to stay at Athletic Club, but his contract expires in 2027 and his release clause is relatively affordable, which is why top clubs, including the Catalans, are still tracking him.

Bayern Munich was one of the clubs that showed the most interest in signing him for the upcoming season. The Germans approached his camp to learn the conditions of the operation, but according to 'Sky Germany', they have stepped back as there is no consensus and they do not intend to make a significant outlay while waiting to see what happens with Florian Wirtz this summer or next.

Barça is considering the signing of Williams

This situation could be seized by Barça, where they are starting to think about the possibility of launching a new offensive for the winger. The option of Williams has not left the sports management's table, but with much less strength than last year due to the inconsistency the player has shown this season and the presence of figures like Luis Díaz or Rafael Leao on the horizon.

However, it is evident that Nico is liked at Spotify Camp Nou. Moreover, he maintains an excellent relationship with several stars of Barça such as Lamine Yamal or Dani Olmo and the amount of his release clause, which remains at 60 million euros, makes him an attractive piece in the market, although, for now, no decision has been made and he is not a priority for the club.

The Premier League is also on the lookout for Nico

Meanwhile, clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, or Manchester United are probing the signing of the forward, but Williams is not clear about moving abroad, which is why his arrival in the Premier League is up in the air. Similarly, Paris Saint-Germain is also reportedly keeping a close eye on him, and Luis Enrique could take charge of the conversations to convince him to join his project.

The Navarrese, for his part, is very happy at Athletic Club and his main goal, as of today, is to help Ernesto Valverde's team become champions of the Europa League, the final of which will be held at San Mamés. The Bilbao team, meanwhile, continues to fight to retain him and it is not ruled out that they will make him a renewal offer in the coming weeks, but for now, the player's future remains uncertain.
