Nico Williams would be demanding a significant salary amount to facilitate his transfer to another club. How much would these emoluments be? We tell you in FCBN
Will FC Barcelona continue to be interested in strengthening their left wing with the signing of Nico Williams from Athletic Club? That does not seem entirely clear; however, the reality is that despite the very interesting options in the environment, such as Rafael Leão from AC Milan or Luis Díaz from Liverpool, the name of the Pamplona forward cannot be ruled out, as he sparked great interest from the Blaugrana during the last summer transfer window.
The situation of Nico Williams, at least contractually, remains the same, as there has been no renewal that could alter any conditions in his agreement with Athletic Club. The left winger, who is under contract with the 'Lions' until June 30, 2027, retains the same release clause of around €58 million (plus the CPI).
Although this amount remains affordable for a player who, despite not having his best season in offensive terms (four goals and five assists in 30 matches), is considered one of the best young forwards in the world today.
With this in mind, it should not be surprising that, beyond the interest of FC Barcelona, there are other clubs worldwide closely following Nico Williams's situation. Particularly, the idea is gaining strength that his future at Athletic Club could lead to a significant change in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 'astronomical' alleged salary demand of Nico Williams to change clubs
However, despite having a possibly manageable starting price, it is clear that his alleged salary demands could complicate his potential move. As reported in 'El Nacional.cat', apparently Nico Williams would be demanding a salary of €11 million net per season to switch teams.
This amount, it is worth noting, differs significantly from what he earns at Athletic Club. According to 'Capology' metrics, the 'Lions' 'number 10' earns around €5 million net, making him the second-highest paid player in the Basque team, behind only his brother Iñaki.
In this line of argument, as long as Nico Williams's alleged salary demand remains, it would be a significant blow to the salary scale of FC Barcelona. If he were to sign for the Catalan club, the Pamplona native would be placed at the top of the salary list, with a truly significant amount.
