BARCELONA'S FIRST SIGNING
OFFICIAL! Dani Olmo is now a FC Barcelona player
FC Barcelona has officially announced the signing of Dani Olmo. The new Barça player will sign a contract for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2030, and the clause is set at 500 million euros
FC Barcelona has finally closed 100% of its first and long-awaited signing. The club has officially confirmed that Dani Olmo has signed with the Barcelona team until 2030 and will have a clause of 500 million euros. Nico Williams' doubts caused the Catalans to put all their attention on the arrival of the player from Egar and in a few days they have managed to unblock the operation with Leipzig to be able to close his incorporation.
Barça will pay the German team 55 million euros fixed plus another 7 in variables that are difficult to meet. The Catalans, therefore, have managed to lower the initial 60 fixed that Leipzig demanded to let one of their great stars leave. The Germans have decided to attend to the demands of the player, who only wanted to play at the Camp Nou, and lower his price a few million so that he can return to what was once his home.
The Barcelona team has been working on signing the player from Terrassa for weeks, but it was not until last week that they accelerated negotiations with the Bundesliga side. The feeling with Williams at the time was that he was getting closer to Athletic and, fearing that they could also lose Dani, Deco took the helm of the operation. The Barcelona team made a couple of initial offers, more on the 'low' side, which Red Bull rejected and after those refusals it was decided to go 'all in' with the third proposal.
Barça accelerated the signing a few days ago
Finally, on Tuesday 6th August, Barcelona's sporting director travelled to Leipzig to meet with the German club along with Olmo and his representatives. Barça was clear that it had to be the final meeting and, helped by the player, who has been key in getting the Germans to give in a bit, they finally managed to close his signing. The news spread like wildfire throughout that day and, pending the medical examination and the usual loose ends, it was then that the Catalans managed to secure this great reinforcement.
The attacking midfielder landed in Barcelona last Tuesday night and this Wednesday he underwent an exhaustive medical examination to determine if he has any after-effects from the injuries he has had in recent years. Luckily, everything went well, the doctors saw him fit and healthy, and they gave the go-ahead for his signing to be finalised. The club was concerned about his serious shoulder injury and persistent knee problems, but the doctors made it clear that he is fit as a 'bull'.
Flick, a 'top' alternative for Flick
Dani is a very interesting signing for Hansi Flick's team, who will have at their disposal a versatile, talented footballer, with a goal and still some room for growth. He will be a perfect 'card' to play in any midfield position, provide solutions even as a 'false 9' and also to play as an interior if you want a very offensive team. Barça is going to be a better team with him and he is undoubtedly expected to be an important player for the German coach in his first season at the Camp Nou.
